is trombone driven rock featuring Mark Mullins on
vocals & trombone (Harry Connick Jr., George Porter
Jr.,Better Than Ezra, Tori Amos, Rancid, Winner 1997-2000
Best of the Beat Awards: voted best trombonist by
Offbeat readers), Jimmy Robinson on guitar (Woodenhead,
Twangorama), Mike Mayeux on guitar (Beatin' Path),
Benji Kozuch on bass (Hot Karl, King Thunder), and
Mike Barras on drums (Joe Krown, Gary Hirstius, Beatin'
Path).
After
celebrating their first year together in 1998, MuleBone
released it's much anticipated debut CD , "5 Shakes
7 Spirits". Recorded at Daniel Lanois' notorious Kingsway
Studios in New Orleans with founding MuleBone member
John Gros producing, MuleBone enlisted Kingsway resident
engineer/producer Ethan Allen (Ani diFranco and Better
Than Ezra) to act as co-producer. The result is the
award winning debut CD from MuleBone, "5 Shakes 7
Spirits".
Since
then MuleBone has been a driving force in helping
shape the New Orleans rock scene for the past several
years. Their brand new CD "Only
In New Orleans" takes the sound of the band into
even deeper territory with more dynamic songs and
heavier textures. The trombone is still a driving
force and shows up in a unique but tasteful way in
many different settings throughout the record.
